IONIAN is the new Submarine System that connects Crotone, Italy, with Preveza, Greece. It is extended with two terrestrial fibre rings to Milan and Rome in Italy and Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece, offering a new high capacity, reliable, international fibre route.

IONIAN offers wholesale capacity, optical spectrum and dark fibre to telecommunication operators and content providers.

The system is in operation since March 31st 2023.

Connecting Peninsular Spain with the Islands of Mallorca and Ibiza with three different submarine routes, Balalink is the most reliable system serving the Balearics. It is complemented with extensive backhaul fiber networks extending the landing stations to reach the main cities.

IslaLink has deployed a terrestrial fiber ring in Mallorca offering a protected point to multipoint service that gives access to the networks of local operators.

The 300km terrestrial fiber ring connects Palma with Manacor, Muro, Sa Pobla, Inca, Sóller, Consell, Sineu, Petra, Villafranca, Montuiri, Santa Ponça and the technology park Parcbit.

IONIAN is a new submarine and terrestrial fiber optic system connecting Athens and Thessaloniki to Milan and Rome.

It addresses the need for very large wholesale capacity (wavelength, spectrum and dark fiber) between Western Europe and Greece through a new system on a completely diverse route.

Why IslaLink?

Since 2001, we deploy and operate fiber cables on underserved routes to provide backbone connectivity.

Our infrastructure guarantees a competitive cost base to retail operators. We contribute to the digital economy by improving the connections of the regions we serve.

IslaLink’s processes and personnel are focused on satisfying the expectations of the most demanding wholesale customers: network operators, ISPs, Content/Cloud Providers…

IslaLink deploys fiber infrastructures to free underserved regions from capacity bottlenecks and lack of diversity

IslaLink has has garnered the experience of building and operating 11 landings and more than 4.000 km of subsea cable with systems connecting the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Morocco, Italy and Greece
